L3 Metastatic Tumor from Adenocarcinoma of Lung


A 64-year-old gentleman complained of back pain. He was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of Lung 6 months back and was treated for the same.

MRI revealed metastasis to L3 vertebra with pathological fracture. However, there was no gross bony destruction



He was treated with Vertebroplasty. In this procedure, cement is injected in the affected vertebra through a thin is inserted in its pedicle.

This procedure gives dramatic pain relief and can be done as a daycare procedure (no need of hospital stay) under local anesthesia

The patient was treated with radiation therapy after the procedure
