Minimally Invasive Surgery for Lumbar Degenerative Listhesis with Canal Stenosis
53 year old lady weighing 130 kg was complaining of gripping pain in both lower limbs while walking.
MRI revealed narrowing of the space available for the lumbar nerve roots at L4-5 level (Lumbar canal stenosis)
This was accompanied with slipping of L4 vertebra forward over L5 vertebra
Dynamic x ray revealed grade 1 anterolisthesis L4 over L5.
Traditionally such patients would be advised fusion surgery. But now with modern Minimally invasive techniques, fusion surgery can be avoided.
Patient was operated in the form of L4-5 Minimally invasive bilateral decompression through single side approach.
This surgery is done as day care and patients can go home within couple of hours after surgery and can follow their routine lifestyle within couple of days
