Congenital Kyphosis with Hemivertebra

21 year old girl was suffering from Thoracolumbar kyphosis measuring 80 degrees. She was born with an abnormal spinal segment (Hemivertebra). She realized this deformity at the age of 8 years and it had gradually progressed over the years.

She suffered from a low self esteem due to her spinal deformity and was not able to form meanigful social relationships

She was operated with hemivertebra excision and deformity correction. She now stands straight with new confidence.

She got married within 10 months after the surgery and is now living a happy and active life.

This is a perfect example how spine deformity can lead to body image disorder and how its correction can change lives of patients and their families for ever.
