Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Lenke Type 2

14 year old high school girl noticed gradual hunching over of her back. this spinal curve grew rapidly at the time of growth spurt at puberty for which she sought consultation.

On Clinical and radiological examination, she was diagnosed to have Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis with a double thoracic curve of 50 and 46 degree.

Normal Spine when viewed from front forms a straight line. An abnormal lateral or sideways curvature of the spine is called scoliosis.

Patient was treated with Posterior Spinal deformity correction and instrumented fusion surgery to correct the scoliosis.

In good hands, surgeries for scoliosis are safe and effective.

Hospital stay is usually of 4-5 days and patients can expect to get back to normal life within couple of weeks.
